Bio of Mike Whicker

Mike Whicker is a Colorado native. He now resides in Evansville, Indiana. Whicker is the author of two novels, Invitation to Valhalla and Proper Suda. Currently, he is working on the sequel to Invitation to Valhalla.

In the above photo, taken in 2005, Whicker is grilling hamburgers 200 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean while a crew-member of the World War II warship LST 325. The ship sailed the eastern seaboard of the United States on a good-will tour to raise money for the ship's restoration, stopping in ports of call such as Washington, D.C., the Cape Cod area, and Boston. Shortly after this photo was taken, a submarine surfaced behind the ship. Whicker burned the hamburgers when he went to his bunk to retrieve his camera.
