It is almost as interesting to know the story of Erika Lehman's father Karl, who survived the war and eventually settled in Finland. He was indeed a gentleman of the old school.

Am posting the following on Amazon and goodreads:
I recently reviewed Invitation to Valhalla which I enjoyed very much and motivated me to read the sequel, Blood of the Reich by Mike Whicker. No it isn’t a vampire novel, but it is just as enthralling. It continues the story of Ericka, a German spy who is sent to the United States to spy on a plant that produces landing ships for the invasion of Europe. The first book ends with her on the run when her spying is exposed. This book picks up with her on the run but still determined to get critical information to Germany that will let them know that the invasion is not going to land at Calais. She enlists the help of a reporter for a Cincinnati newspaper, where she goes because a German sympathizer can help her complete her mission. Any more would give away the compelling plot. A real page-turner that I could hardly put down. With my background in military intelligence and law enforcement, I can attest to the accuracy of the settings and techniques both of the protagonist and those hunting her. These two books, taken together, are clearly in my top ten percent of WWII military fiction.

After reading the above comments, I can just say ditto to all the accolades. I was introduced to Invitation to Valhalla by my sister-in-law just 3 weeks ago and now huge vistas have been opened. Since I was born and raised in Evansville, and my family was scattered all over E I could relate. My two uncles both worked at the shipyard where the LST's were manufactured.
Mike = you did a helluva job.

The first book was enthralling. I knew all of the Evansville and river places, shipyard, etc., mentioned in the book. Thanks for writing another.

During my nephews' graduation party, I mentioned to my Aunt Rosemary Freeman, that I was reading Blood of the Reich. Aunt Rosemary lives on the west side of Evansville and in the book "Invitation to Valhalla" there is so much history written around the time my Aunt was growing up. I wanted to surprised Aunt Rosemary with a signed copy for her birthday. I contacted Mike, and he was glad to accommodate my request. Mike is a person that you meet and you feel like he has been your friend forever. There is always a special connection between a reader and writer when you enjoy their work so much. I always recommend his books to friends and family and have given them as gifts.

Katherine, I got my signed copy by following the instructions above and emailing walkure@mikewhicker.com. And it was cheaper than buying it online or in the bookstores. JH
